Principles for Decision Making," by Garry Friesen. Totally worth reading. My roommates and I regularly have discussions on this topic, and again today I talked with another friend about God's will... It just dawned on me today that I'm not alone in wanting to please God, but wondering about what to do next. Anyways, visit the link to read more, here is the conclusion and a helpful picture...
1. The Principle of OBEDIENCE: Where God commands, we must obey.
2. The Principle of FREEDOM: Where there is no command, God gives us freedom (and responsibility) to choose
3. The Principle of WISDOM: Where there is no command, God gives us wisdom to choose.
4. The Principle of HUMBLE TRUST: When we have chosen what is moral and wise, we must trust the sovereign
God to work all the details together for good.
This book freed me from the tyranny of "God has a specific plan for your life...no go try to find it!"
ReplyDeleteIt helped me a lot too! I felt trapped by having so many choices (and fear of making the wrong one)... It's good to know we have freedom!
